Training

Our trainings are grounded in current neuroscience and the foundational principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC). Through NVC and resonant language we understand that empathy is a natural human capacity that needs to be taught in order to flourish. Clarity Services offers practical skills for cultivating these capacities. Following are current offerings and we can also create custom training options for your school.

  • Open Communication - This introductory workshop covers the neuroscience of reactivity, the key elements of NVC and ways for people to begin to take empathic responsibility for their actions.

  • Helping Students (and Adults) Calm Strong Emotions - This course helps educators, counselors and others who work with children learn practical strategies for helping calm strong emotions in ourselves and others.

  • Giving & Receiving Feedback - Using the lens of NVC we investigate ways to give and receive information that enhance connection and maximize the likelihood of hearing and being heard. This workshop is equally valuable in adult to adult and adult to student exchanges.

  • Working with Conflict - This course helps educators increase their ability to remain authentic and compassionate even in times of disagreement.

When I see how divided people are in this country, this training gives me hope that we can eventually find commonality. I think it is super important for educators to learn this material so that we can help children learn self regulation skills that they can take into adulthood.

LEADERSHIP coaching

Bringing new communication skills and processes into day to day school operations can be challenging. We offer individual coaching to support administrators in creating and sustaining a vibrant non-punitive culture that includes:

  • trust between all stakeholders

  • dynamic collaboration

  • appropriate transparency

  • authentic accountability

The foundation of our coaching is empathic listening where we bring empathy to the realities of being a school administrator. We help you experience trust, collaboration, transparency, accountability first hand within the coaching relationship. Our goal is to assist you to come up with your best ideas for leading a vibrant non-punitive school culture.

conflict resolution processes

We offer assistance in exploring and resolving layers of both personal and structural conflict within a system. We find that often conflicts between individuals percolate in the absence of transparent, supportive, non-punitive processes for resolving differing views and making sense of roles, responsibilities & policies. We can assist people in having important conversations about challenging topics through mediation. We can also guide whole groups through facilitated conversations where all voices matter and elegant solutions arise naturally. In addition, we can assist you in developing your own unique conflict management processes, sometimes referred to as restorative systems, which will support you on an ongoing basis.

Nonviolent Communication has been extremely meaningful in my life, both personally and professionally. The workshops have helped me to understand my own perceptions better and how those perceptions form a lens through which I see the world. Thanks to NVC, I am more able to make deliberate choices with my actions and words, rather than just reactions. This has helped deepen my work with children, my family relationships, and my overall enjoyment of life. Self-improvement can be hard, NVC offers a compassionate, supportive pathway. Thank you.
